Ric Zimmerman is the principal designer behind litegeist, an experiential lighting studio based in Los Angeles. With over two decades of experience spanning arts, entertainment, television, and the built environment, Ric treats light as a kinetic, narrative medium—crafting dynamic environments that elevate spatial architecture and make people feel exceptional within a space. His work has taken him and his team to theatres, studios, convention centers and unconventional venues across the continental US and abroad. 

 

A trained musician and composer with a music degree from Loyola Marymount University, Ric brings an innate sense of rhythm, counterpoint, and pacing to spatial design. Whether choreographing transitions for live performance, scoring the subtle shift of evening ambiance in a venue, or integrating architectural fixtures, his work balances technical rigor with atmospheric warmth. Rooted in narrative and placemaking, his practice favors innovative spatial arrangement, impactful simplicity over spectacle, and an enduring commitment to resourcefulness and energy efficiency.
